"I was staying across the street at the Tido Hostel, and this was a natural place to go for breakfast after I was told that the shrimp soup with noodles were halal. Thus I ate breakfast there twice. Needless to say it’s called a coffee shop and the Chinese owners Malaysian coffee is strong and consistent, I tried it with condensed milk and without, both a very good: strong and without any artifacts like bitterness or acidity. In other words, very good ups of coffee. At at the current price if 2 RM, the best value for money coffee in the neighborhood. I recommend you go here to try it for yourself. I had experienced the coffee six months earlier in another visit as well, hence my comments reflect several instances of experiencing the coffee firsthand on multiple days. Consistent quality. Now for the halal noodles with shrimp soup: the soup is more like a broth with an appropriate level of salt and spices, plus a piece of mint- harmonious balance with a strong flavor of shrimp and several pieces of shrimp in the soup. Two different types of noodles are mixed together with some fresh sprouts. Very tasty and enjoyable, but a bit on the light side in terms of quantity of noodles. Coming from Kunming, Yunnan, we are used to huge bowls full of noodles, so it’s probably my bias on this matter. I would still highly recommend it because of the wonderful taste and because it’s only 5 RM, so compared to other good options it the best value for money too! Uncle’s coffee is a big plus too. Highly recommended breakfast combo for 7 RM. I didn’t try the Roti Canai, but other customers were enjoying it. You judge for yourself. Don’t let the busy atmosphere and old look of the place dissuade you from eating breakfast here. Highly recommended, despite it usually being busy, if you don’t mind waiting a few minutes for your food and coffee to be brought to your table. I forgot to mention the boiled egg in the soup."

"It's a typical old time kopi tiam. Lots of locals. The prawn mee is really good. The soup is not too strong or strong. Portion is just nice for breakfast. My wife had roti bakar. Very different from those served in newer cafes. We enjoyed our breakfast."

"My top favorite old-school corner kopitiam in Penang. *Ambiance of round tables, hardwood chairs and side bench seating. * the best coffee for me, strong, well-rounded and aromatic. You can bring home a pack of his ground coffee for 20 rm. * the best Kaya toast too! Toasted right with the Kaya on the side. It’s flavorful- I feel it’s homemade. * amazed at the uncle who does almost everything — preparing the delicious kopi or teh , the serving and the bussing of tables and receiving payment (a lady in the kitchen preps the Kaya and eggs). * be patient. No need to holler at the uncle. He will come to your table. * a halal prawn Hokkien Mee, said to be delicious appends to uncle’s kopitiam * Toon Leong it is ."
